Color Repair on Handmade Carpets

Color repair on handmade carpets is a specialized technique that requires experience and attention. When a rug is left wet for a long period of time or, worse, incorrectly cleaned by craftsmen without the necessary expertise, colors can transfer from dark areas to light areas, altering the original design.

To correct this problem, a diagnosis is carried out to identify which colour has been mixed. Then, a special technique is applied, in which specialized materials and brushes are used to gradually remove the unwanted shades, restoring the design to its original form.

Color repair is mainly recommended for carpets with light fading or unwanted colour changes. For greater durability, permanent colours are used so that the carpet remains unaltered even after future cleaning, provided that this is carried out by qualified craftsmen.

This technique has its roots in the Persian tradition, where experienced craftsmen, with a deep knowledge of dyeing and handmade carpet construction, developed methods to ensure that the original aesthetics and value are preserved.
